How Midlife Women Can Naturally Balance Mood and Hormones Through Food (Copy)
Last week, I had the privilege of giving a talk on Food and Longevity, and it inspired me to reflect even more deeply on the relationship between what we eat and how we feel. Food is more than fuel—it is one of the most powerful influences on our health, mood, and behavior.

Synchronicity in Midlife: Attention to Life’s Signs Leads to Emotional Freedom
Every stage of life requires us to say goodbye to one chapter to create another. In midlife, especially, we face deep transitions: children leaving home, shifting careers, aging parents, or changes in relationships. For decades, many of us identify with roles—mother, spouse, caregiver, or worker. When those roles shift, we may feel lost, anxious, or overwhelmed.
This is precisely when synchronicity becomes a guide. By paying attention to who we meet, the patterns that repeat, the songs that touch us at just the right time, or the dreams that stay with us, we begin to see life pointing us toward new meaning and renewed purpose.
The Great Lock-In, Redefined
A new trend called The Great Lock-In is spreading across social media — a call to focus, finish strong, and get ahead for 2026. Initially, it began as a productivity challenge encouraging people to “lock in” for the last months of the year, stay disciplined, and make progress before January 1st.
But for many women, especially in midlife, the idea of pushing harder can feel more draining than inspiring. So, what if we reimagined this trend?
Sacred Sleep: The Missing Key to Emotional Balance in Midlife
Lying in bed, eyes wide open, surrounded by the stillness of night, we sometimes wonder: why can’t I sleep? For many women in midlife, the reasons can feel endless—menopause, the emptiness of children leaving home, stress, loneliness, loss of connection, or the fear of what comes next. We know lack of sleep unsettles the nervous system and shakes our emotional balance. Yet the question lingers: what can we do?
Finding Yourself After Years of Giving
Our bodies constantly change, and so should our relationship with food. To support our hormonal shift, and life transitions — such as children leaving home or a new job, a new home, a new relationship — can stir emotions we weren’t expecting. During this time, food can become more than just fuel; it can be a way to restore balance, uplift our mood, and nurture not only the body but also the mind and soul.
Food for Mood: How Eating with Awareness Transforms Your Energy
Our bodies constantly change, and so should our relationship with food. To support our hormonal shift, and life transitions — such as children leaving home or a new job, a new home, a new relationship — can stir emotions we weren’t expecting. During this time, food can become more than just fuel; it can be a way to restore balance, uplift our mood, and nurture not only the body but also the mind and soul.
5 Steps to Reclaim Your Soul with Movement
For much of our lives, movement has been framed as fixing something—burning calories, toning muscles, or pushing harder to reach a goal. The old belief “no pain, no gain” shaped how many of us saw exercise: as something to endure rather than something to enjoy.
Facing Fear with Self-Inquiry: A Yogic Perspective
Fear isn’t the enemy—it’s an invitation. Self-inquiry can help you walk through the doorway to clarity and truth.
The Joy Within: How Santosha Heals the Ache of Not Belonging
Even when surrounded by others, we can feel alone if we’re not at ease with ourselves. By cultivating Santosha—contentment with what is—we shift our inner landscape. From that place of gratitude and alignment, connection with others happens more naturally and authentically.
Stay-At-Home Mom -Explore SoMa Podcast
We open up about a topic that matters deeply to us—what it means to embrace the fullness of who we are, whether as working moms or stay-at-home moms. Together, we reflect on our experiences, the choices we've made, the challenges we've faced, and how we keep showing up as whole women.
Unlearning Conditional Love: A Yogic Perspective
Love is pure and unconditional. Yet, in today’s world, we often mix love with expectations, attachment, and dependency. Just listen to the lyrics of many love songs on the radio.
Emotional Independence: A Journey Back to the Self
Moms are women we can count on. They’re there through every stage of their children’s lives. They are married or single, working or stay-at-home, caregivers or providers, often juggling multiple roles at the same time. It’s easy to lose sight of who we are beyond these roles. Finding emotional independence in the midst of it all can feel like a distant idea, even an indulgence.
Yin Yoga: A Path to Inner Connection
When I first began practicing yoga 27 years ago, Hatha Yoga was a balanced blend of introspective poses and strengthening postures. Over the years, I have observed a shift in the yoga world—a tendency toward more physically demanding and dynamic practices that emphasize strength, endurance, and movement. While these practices have their merits, they focus on the masculine energy and often bypass the feminine energy that our being needs to remain balanced and move toward self-realization. This evolution in yoga trends highlights the importance of restoring equilibrium through practices like Yin Yoga, which nurtures introspection, stillness, and deep connection with oneself.
Where is My Mind?
So here I am, preparing my props, mainly various balls. As I sat in the room, ready for class to begin, I reflected on the beauty of yoga practice: approaching with an open heart and a willingness to explore oneself, never knowing what each class would bring. Today’s session reminded me how quickly the mind can wander when the present moment is uncomfortable. I’m still amused by the inner dialogue I had during class.

What is Hatha-Yoga?
Yoga is a holistic way of living, including dietary habits, disciplined practice, and introspection. It is a path guiding us towards enlightenment. Along this journey, we experience improvements in our physical well-being, emotional contentment, and overall sense of fulfillment.
Say “YES” To Life
Life is a perpetual stream of energy, constantly in motion, shaping our experiences and journeys. Whether joyful or challenging, every event we encounter is made of energy. It's not about confinement but rather about allowing it to move freely. As we say yes to what unfolds before us, we ride the current of life. And when faced with difficulties, we can allow the pain to pass through us rather than resisting its flow.
Rekindling The Spark to Live Beyond Autopilot
Are we living on autopilot, or are we fully present and mindful?
Purpose and inspiration pass by when we only go through the motions. Living on autopilot makes us oblivious to the present moment, lost in our thoughts—worried about the future, burdened by the past— and missing the beauty of now.
Now or Never
In today's society, multitasking has become the norm, often seen as necessary for productivity and success. However, it can lead to stress and a sense of disconnection from our own lives. Our minds become cluttered with thoughts and distractions, preventing us from fully experiencing each moment. Happiness is Now, not yesterday or tomorrow…
